All Sorts of Ways to Save Money

A simple Pinterest and Twitter search will result in a myriad of unique ways to save money. Here are my favorites:

1. Round up purchases to the nearest dollar and save the leftover change.

2. Do not leave appliances plugged in while they are not in use.

3. Stay healthy and practice preventative healthcare!

4. Be selective when grocery shopping.

5. Evaluate charities before giving to them so that you make the most of your donations.

6. Make your own Christmas presents (here are some elegant edible gifts to try too!).

7. Do not waste produce that is a bit past its prime.

8. Make wool dryer balls instead of buying dryer sheets.

All in all, I think it is important to keep a balanced mindset when it comes to saving money. Look for the little ways that you can make a difference, but do not let it take over your thinking or become all-consuming. Simple Mom talks in this post about balancing the “big wins” and the “little wins” and I really like her input.

For me, I think it is important to think about what you are buying and whether it is really necessary  Just because commercials tell you you need something does not mean that you do. Similarly, just because you have “always used” something does not mean you always need to.

What are your favorite/most unique ways to save?
